17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
The helmet weighed nearly 15 lbs. And though the breastplate was the most beautiful, the helmet was the most noticeable. Your salvation..the way you live your life as a believer is what people are going to notice about you.
The helmet also will keep you from “losing your head”. When you have the helmet on, its very hard to be steered off course.
Salvation has a broad meaning…it’s more than being chosen for eternity with Christ…
One person described it as a material and temporal deliverance from danger and apprehension. It’s preservation, pardon, restoration, healing, wholeness and soundness!
When you keep your helmet on, you keep yourself focused on Christ.
“Though shall keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee”
It’s important to keep your mind…put on the helmet!
