How are Your Mondays?

Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever. (psalm 28:7-9)
For many folks Mondays are not fun days. They force themselves to get up and make their way to a place they don't want to be and to do work they don't want to do. Life is too short to live with this kind of attitude.
I wonder what could happen if you got up with a thankful heart and said a simple prayer, telling the Lord how grateful you are to even have a job? I wonder what might occur if you went into the office with an incredibly positive attitude? What if you actually did all YOU could do to make the company better and your boss shine? Is any of this even possible?
Personally I believe that you can…

What's Your Approval Rating?

Romans 8:1-2 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.  To be condemned is to be pronounced wrong or morally deficient. People who feel this emotion never think that life can get any better and that no one approves of anything they do. It's very important to realize that when you follow Christ, your approval ratings goes off the charts. Jesus is a game changer! Those that ask Him to be Lord never carry the load of condemnation again...they are FREE! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't rise up out of fear and despair. There is no condemnation when you serve the Lord. Let that life-giving power release you today! You are blessed and highly favored!

Benefits of Being Kind

Not only is being nice to others a wonderful thing to do, but did you know the Bible talks of benefits to those that are kind?
Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor!
The Lord rescues them when they are in trouble.
The Lord protects them
and keeps them alive.
He gives them prosperity in the land
and rescues them from their enemies.
The Lord nurses them when they are sick
and restores them to health. PS 41:1-3
Take a moment to let this sink in today-when we take care of those that are less fortunate, God always takes care of us! We are rescued from trouble and protected-kept alive-made prosperous-even nursed back to health when we are sick! Praise the Lord! Be kind today!

Do You Have a Plan?

I was reading some words from Galatians 1 this week where it talks about a plan...a plan that God has for everyone. It says in chapter 1 and verse 4 that "the purpose and plan of God was that we would all come to the realization that we need saving." We need a Savior!
Paul was surprised and astonished that people could walk away from faith so easily and start to chase other belief systems. He could not wrap his head around the fact that anyone could abandon Christ and pursue something else.
Once you have had a taste of grace, once you have digested it and learned to live off of its power, you can never ignore and walk away from the God that gives grace. Grace is "unmerited favor". Unfortunately in our culture the unmerited favor of God often gives way to the instant gratification of self. You can't earn grace; it is a gift. A gift from God. And because of that gift you have the reassurance that everything that happens in your life will somehow be utilized in ma…

Get it Together!

1 Corinthians 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought.
Take a second and look at those places that are underlined: agree with one another, no divisions among you, perfectly united. There is a great energy and power that comes when we are in sync with each other. But understand today that to be agreeable with each other does not mean that we always agree. The way we handle disputes, controversies and division is so important. Most times we simply ignore them hoping they go away. Or sometimes we disengage from the group, which is more like denial. This is where divisions begin. As believers doing the work of the Lord, we are to be "unified". To be unified is to be moving in the same direction though we may be using different methods and techniques to get there. Don't get diversity confused with division

Breaking Ground

Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break upyour unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you. Hosea 10:12

Sow for you! Imagine that...the idea of planting something for YOUR life! YOU will reap fruit…however you may have to do some groundbreaking things! If you want something you have never had you are going to have to do something you have never done. Break up the ground that is unplowed. It’s the first thing we do before we build…groundbreaking. We are seeking something so we prepare the ground to accommodate what we are seeking. The instruction is to break up the ground and get it ready for what is coming. God is getting ready to bless you and you want that blessing to find a fertile spot to land in.
Some may ask how long do we seek the Lord? Hosea said it best…until He comes and showers righteousness on you. Seek Him until you find HIM. Until ALL these things are added unto you. Perhaps that…

Don't Create a L.E.A.F. Pile

Several years ago when my book "Dreams2Destiny" came out, I went on a mini book tour. It was a very exciting time as I appeared on television programs like Daystar and the Harvest program with Lesea Broadcasting. As I was traveling from from city to city I had lots of time to think about what I was doing, the books I was writing and what God may be wanting me to do. It was an intimate time where He and I talked quite often and His revelation was being downloaded to me. It was in that season of time that this acronym was in my mind: L.E.A.F. It stands for Laziness, Exaggeration Apathy and Fear.  It seemed to me that every time you begin to let that DREAM God gave you come alive, these things start to fall over top of it. As I was traveling I realized that I was kind of a "LEAF" blower and part of my mission for that year was to help blow laziness, exaggeration, apathy and fear off of the dreams of God's people. So today, don't create a LEAF pile in your lif…

Earning a Good Reputation

There is a proverb that states "a good name is better than desirable riches." Your words are important. Your actions even more so. And your name, well that is beneficial in many ways but a good name, a solid reputation has to be earned. Proverbs 3:1 My child, never forget the things I have taught you.
Store my commands in your heart.
2 If you do this, you will live many years,
and your life will be satisfying.
3 Never let loyalty and kindness leave you!
Tie them around your neck as a reminder.
Write them deep within your heart.
4 Then you will find favor with both God and people,
and you will earn a good reputation.
You don't earn the kind of rep we are talking about today through acquisition of things. It's not even tied to your lineage or where you stack up in society. Earning a good reputation comes from storing up the things that God says and using them in daily living. You have to read or listen to the Bible to keep a surplus of those commands. Faith comes when you hear …

Well Smack My Lips!

Psalm 63:2So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open, drinking in your strength and glory.3 In your generous love I am really living at last! My lips brim praises like fountains.4 I bless you every time I take a breath; My arms wave like banners of praise to you.
5I eat my fill of prime rib and gravy; I smack my lips. It's time to shout praises!
Sometimes when I read the Word of God, I simply have no other words to add. These few verses from the Message version have captured the way I like to rise up and face the day! Eyes wide open, drinking in His strength and glory, smiling with arms waving in praise, and eating my fill of prime rib and gravy!!  I smack my lips and it's time to shout PRAISES! Who's with me?

God Loves it when...

2 Corinthians 9 encourages us to remember: "A stingy planter gets a stingy crop; a lavish planter gets a lavish crop. I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your own mind what you will give. That will protect you against sob stories and arm-twisting. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving". I am trying to be generous on every occasion. In order to do that I have to make certain that my priorities are right. There have been so many times in my life when I gave my time, talent and treasure to the Lord only after I had used them for something else. Often I would find myself coming up short of time, low on skill and limited of any financial blessing. There is a biblical principle that encourages us to give to the Lord first and recognize that whatever we plant in what God is doing is going to produce a harvest. The Bible calls it first fruits. If I am short on time then I need to invest some volunteer hours to help out a ministry or …

I Got the Joy!

If you have ever walked through a season of unhappiness or loneliness and you are surrounded by people of faith, then someone has probably told you to the following: "Keep your chin up remember that the joy of the Lord is your strength!"
That type of encouragement used to really get under my skin because it was like telling someone who runs out of gas on the side of the road that they need gas. Add to that the fact that I did not truly understand what the joy of the Lord was. I always took that the joy of the Lord meant that my happiness would come if I would just get into God. I am learning that my happiness only comes when God gets into me! The way I used to look at this burdened me with the pressure of not being good enough. Now I realize that all I have to do is let the Lord in and stop beating myself up. If I think about what He says about me and what He thinks of me I can get happy. When He arrives He brings His peace, His love and His joy. And the joy that comes in wi…

God Blesses!

“God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
God blesses those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
God blesses those who are humble,
for they will inherit the whole earth.
God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they will be satisfied.
God blesses those who are merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
God blesses those whose hearts are pure,
for they will see God.
God blesses those who work for peace,
for they will be called the children of God.
God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right,
for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
“God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.
(Matthew 5:3-11 NLT)

God blesses! Nuff said:)

Oh No!

God is good all the time! And what he requires of us is to do good with what He has provided to us. In Nehemiah 6, we find the adversaries trying to disrupt the progress on the wall...

"When Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall and that there were no more breaks in it—even though I hadn't yet installed the gates— Sanballat and Geshem sent this message: "Come and meet with us at Kephirim in the valley of Ono." I knew they were scheming to hurt me so I sent messengers back with this: "I'm doing a great work; I can't come down.
Nehemiah knew that this was a distraction. Anytime someone tries to get you to go to the valley of O-No, its probably not good! Nehemiah stayed focused and did not stop. It took five times for this resistance to stop! Don’t get discouraged today by those who want to take you into an attitude of O-No. Say O yes to the Lord and keep building. It won't be long until you see…
