I Pray

I Pray

The idea for this song was birthed out of my exposure to countless stories of people I know dealing with terminal illness. In each account there are emotions and thoughts that can be described so many different ways. Everyone beats disease: here or in heaven!
In “I Pray” we meet a man who is going through a recollection of moments when he remembers his wife…”I see her in the mirror”, her voice calling out, even a spot in the yard where they used to stargaze together.
In the midst of a flood of special memories, life changes.
No one knows the time, the hour,
No one knows the day
When every dream that you believed in is quickly taken away
No one knows the season when your life gets turned around
She was all I had, until that day

Many people endure seasons and situations when they feel helpless, even hopeless. The chorus lends to the only thing the man can do…”now I pray that she’ll come back to me, Lord I know that it will never be…still, I pray

One of my dreams for this song was to help in the continued awareness that diseases like cancer and other terminal illnesses take their toll on Americans every day. When we feel overwhelmed by the struggle, perhaps the only consolation we have to win the fight is to PRAY! We will win

I would love one day to see a video of the song tagged with a special message from an organization like Susan B Komen or St. Jude that relentlessly offers hope to the hopeless. After all there is one thing that each of us can always do…PRAY

Lyrics:

I Pray

Today I saw her memory in the mirror,
I saw her as she gently touched her face
In times like these I still believe I hear her calling out my name
I find myself out standing in the backyard
In the place where she and I would watch the stars
I feel her touch in every wind that passes
Seemed the world was ours

Now I pray, now I pray
I pray that she’ll come running back to me

Every morning when I drink my cup of coffee
I can see her in the chair that’s next to mine
Though her body became weak and oh so fragile
I thought I had a little time
No one knows the time, the hour, no one knows the day
When every dream that you believed in is quickly taken away
No one knows the season when your life gets turned around
she was all I had until that day

Now I pray, I pray that she’ll come running back to me
Lord I know that it will never be
Still, I pray
