Storms come and go. Even the most beautiful places can be changed in an instant by a storm. So what's the good news? Storms pass and the sun will come out again!

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 2 Cor 4:17

Roaring Waves

For I am the LORD your God,
who stirs up the sea, causing its waves to roar.
My name is the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. Isaiah 51:15
Joe on the Go was in Destin, Florida this past weekend. Though the temperatures around the country are super hot, the breeze blowing off of the Gulf is amazing.
I could not wait to get out on the white sand beaches and walk down the coastline. This was quite a change from my Tulsa, Oklahoma landscape! After a brisk walk up and down the shore, I sat down and watched the water. The sea was being stirred up by the winds and the waves began to roar. It was just like the scripture for today. I could see the handiwork of God in this beautiful scene and I could hear Him too.
Take a moment today to look and listen. You may be surprised by what you see and hear the Lord saying to you!

For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long.
Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever!
This is a great little reminder out of 2 Corinthians 4. Not everything is always going to go your way. Sometimes life can get messy and there can be challenges. BUT, the Good News is that the trouble WILL go away. You and I will become stronger because of it. The difficulties will produce incredible blessings if we simply trust the Lord and hold on to His Word.
I've been people watching many folks on my summer road trip and I've seen some that are struggling and some that are joyful. When I see those that have lost there smile or seem to be in a dark place I think about the good that the Lord is producing for them that is just around the corner. I also realize how small some of my troubles are in the grand scheme of things.
What is God making in you and for you? Don't be depressed and don't get discouraged. This won't last lo…

He Holds the Mountains...

Well the first leg of this road trip is completed as I say so long to North Carolina. What I was able to see here is the beauty of God's handiwork in the mountains and all that surround it. Chimney Rock Park with its amazing rock formations and hills is truly breath-taking. Though it can be a bit nauseating to navigate the roads as they wind through these mountains, you must always stop and take in the incredible scenery. I will close this leg with the first few verses of Psalm 95...
Come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him. For the LORD is a great God,a great King above all gods. He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. The sea belongs to Him for He made it. His hands formed the dry land, too. Come, let us worship and bow down.

Fishers of Men

Luke 5...

This years family vacation is filled with some new experiences. One of those is that I entered my very first yoga class:) That's right, I was soon doing positions like the Warrior, UpDog and DownDog and a variety of others that I did not fully understand.
The lesson I learned from yoga was that I am not the most limber person physically but I am flexible when it comes to trying new things and going into places I've never been.
Today, my body is feeling some UpDog pains:) But I am going to be fine. It's tour the lake on a boat day which means I get to sit and view the beauty around us while my "dog- tired body heals!
Today, why don't you consider trying something new, different, maybe something you have never done before. I am certain you can learn something too!

Lessons from a huge Chess Board

Today I came across this huge chess board. Here's what I was thinking...

Pursue YOUR Dreams!

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams". Thoreau
With God, ALL things are possible!!!

This afternoon I revisited some memories and landmarks from my past. As I arrived in Nashville I went to my old neighborhood and saw our home, then went to the school the kids went to elementary in and even saw my old church! I've posted some pictures for you on Facebook so you can go on this journey with me. Joes Facebook Page

It's very emotional to see where you have come from. I stopped by a Mexican restaurant that our family used to eat in ALL the time. In fact, my two boys probably thought they were Mexican for about three years of their life! That place now has a Starbucks right next store so Joe on the Go was very happy!

My last stop included a conversation with my mentor and former pastor, Steve Allen of Oak Hill Assembly in Nashville. The church looked beautiful and just stepping on the property brought back memories of leading worship, teaching a Dreams2Destiny Sunday School class and the many friends I got to know while there. Thank you Steve and Vada for your love …

Here We Go!

The fun is always in the journey:) We are en route to our first stop...Nashville TN!
Hopefully there will be some pics or a video later today from Music City

"Sharing the Story" (Joe on the Go)

Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. Romans 1:5 We need to share the story that Jesus is writing in our lives!

"The Layered Look" (Joe on the Go)

It's the middle of the week and you may be needing a little push to take you through the rest of it. From Colossians 3:12 I was thinking about 'the layered look". God wants us to clothe ourselves with these things:)

Together is Better (Joe on the Go)

Philippians 2:2  Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

Reboot? (Joe on the Go)

A rut is nothing more than a grave with both ends kicked out.
How do you get yourself out of the rut and the mundane and back
into the place you were designed to be?

Something New:)

OK, Cup of Joe friends, we are off on a new adventure:)
Starting on Monday July 16th for a limited time, its
Joe on the Go!

 Here's the introduction...

Remind Me!

The one thing I love about my Iphone 4S if the SIRI assistant. I can tell my phone to remind me about a meeting, a list or a person at any time and it will set a reminder and notify me about it! I need to be reminded of some things!
Titus Chapter 3 begins like this:
1Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.
It helps me to take a few moments and think about the things that are important to God. They should be important to me as well! Things like obedience and doing good things. Things like speaking nicely and not maliciously, never spreading gossip and being peaceable whenever possible.
So today, I am taking this little reminder to heart and choosing to start my day by praying for my city leaders, our teachers in the school system, the police and fire departments, city hall, and then I'm going towards the White House to …

Joetry: "When People Leave"

If you have ever had someone close, a friend or loved one leave your life for any reason, you already know it is tough. Several years ago, as many people came in and out of my life, I sat down one afternoon and wrote these few thoughts. Thought I'd share a cup of joetry with you!
When People Leave
It’s hard when people walk away And leave your life in haste I never have the words to say Was the time we shared a waste? I take it personal at times My heart feels broke in pieces I sit alone, sometimes I cry As I eat my bag of Reese’s Maybe God has got a plan as people come and go Just do your part and share your life It’s not all about you, you know! The time we have is precious though sometimes not enough I must stay close to Jesus cause the going will be rough And when we reach the finish line united, we’ll all be The ones that stayed, the ones that left Will all be there with me:)

God of All Comfort

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. Today's cup of joe is fresh, bold and filled with flavor:) You and I have a God that loves to bring us comfort. BUT He does so not only so we can be comforted but that we can pass it on and comfort someone else that is in trouble. Try giving the Father of compassion some praise today.  Let the God of ALL comfort, comfort YOU!

What Do You Mean?

Funny how our language allows you to say something that sounds the same but has such different meanings:) Like the shirt in our picture: real eyes, realize, real all sounds the same but these words are nothing alike. The first time I saw this image I thought about my walk with the Lord and said to myself... Thank you Lord for these real eyes that help me to realize the real lies of the enemy of my soul. As a follower of Christ you have those real eyes too! And if you engage them to look at the things you ought to look at, you will also realize the truth and find the abundant life that Christ died to give you. Know Him, know peace. No Him, No peace:)

Keep On!

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7, 8 NLT)It's always easy to quit, give up and walk away when things get tough. This year the theme for my life is to be TENACIOUS. It simply means to hold on and not let go. Our promise from this scripture is to keep on asking, keep on seeking and to keep on knocking. Some folks like to pray once and then wait. I guess it's this tenacity that empowers me to keep on keeping on till the answer comes. Are you low on joy? Is your financial surplus depleted? Do you feel discouraged? Keep on asking God for help. Keep on looking for Him in your situation. And keep on knocking until He answers. Your breakthrough is about to arrive.

May your CUP always be full!

Back to Mayberry

The other day we said goodbye to a television icon...Sheriff Taylor, Matlock, otherwise known as Andy Griffith. Once I heard the news, my mind immediately went back to Aunt Bea's kitchen and those early morning breakfast advice sessions for Opie. Remembering brought back good was a different time then. Life was slower and there seemed to be less things to set us off.
The rest of that day I just whistled the theme song. Did you know that you can't yell or do anything else with your mouth while you whistle? That song just makes me feel better and calms the chaos of life today.
Thanks to Andy for all of those life lessons sandwiched within 22 minutes of Mayberry and a community of people that just seemed to care about each other. I wish we could recapture the peaceful times when one town drunk, Otis was all we had to worry about:)
Today, thank the Lord for all of those people that make you smile and even whistle as you go through your day. Maybe you can whistle in …
Have a blessed and safe 4th of July!  And remember, when Jesus sets you FREE,
you are FREE indeed!

"Then Abraham waited patiently, and he received what God had promised". Heb 6:15 Abraham was blessed by God and was told that he would be the beginning of an amazing lineage…a father of many nations. God made a promise to him. But it did not happen overnight. Abraham had to wait. Most of the things I find myself praying for seem to come after a period of waiting. How we wait is important. What we do in the waiting is as well. Abraham had tenacity when it came to waiting. He waited patiently and with unshakeable resolve. He held on to the promise and did not let go until it came. Most would have said that his window for starting a family was over…you must have missed God. But he didn’t. He received what God had promised. You may be "waiting" on your own personal promise from God today. It may have been some time since you prayed about it and all you do now is wait. Don't give up! Hold on to the hope you have and don’t waver. Stick to it until God brings you to it!

Second Half Starts Now!

Well, here we go into the second half of 2012. I spent some time yesterday looking at how this year is going and where I am so far. I have things in mind at the beginning of the year that I want to do and my challenge is always getting through them by the end of the year. As I was sipping my cup of joe I read a few words of Philippians 1…“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”So I have a promise. You do too! The Lord will finish what He has started in us! Don’t be anxious and don’t get frustrated because everything will come together and YOU will rise to the top!
