Live Your Life

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,   continue to live your lives in him,   rooted  and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught,  and overflowing with thankfulness.   Colossians 2:6-7 I pray that YOU are a fully  devoted follower of Christ. If so, you must always strive to live as one. LIVE YOUR LIFE in Him. What does that mean? Look at the scripture closely and we can see some amazing benefits. You must be rooted in Him. The deeper the roots, the stronger the life. You deepen your roots through developing a relationship with Him. That relationship grows through prayer. You nourish the roots by reading His Word. Try taking a few moments at the start of each day to read the Bible. By becoming more deeply rooted in Him, two things will happen. You will be built up and strengthened . He will lift you up when your down and help you out when you feel helpless. His power will become your power. His strength will be your strength. But the

One Piece at a Time

Have you ever wished that you could figure out your life more quickly? That it feels like one big puzzle and some of the pieces are missing? Have you ever have a hard time making the pieces fit? I find myself wishing at times that God gave me a longer look at the BIG picture of His plan for me so that I could find the right pieces to put this puzzle together! All I seem to get are what I call "glimpses of glory"; quick looks at what WILL BE if I just keep putting the puzzle together. Several years ago during our family vacation in the summer we tried to put a huge puzzle together. The puzzle had thousands of pieces and it was quite overwhelming at first. To me it looked impossible and very time consuming. I tried to get it started and put the edges together because they are the easiest for me. Same thing with my life. Setting the boundaries is the easiest part. Trying to figure out what goes inside is the hard part! Same with the puzzle. The inside pieces are the hard

If You Care...

Sharing's a wonderful characteristic that needs to be developed in all of us. Most of us do not naturally know how to SHARE. Our favorite word as children is "mine". When we are little we gather OUR stuff and guard it so that no one else can take it away. It's MINE. The natural response is to keep and not share. As fully devoted followers of Christ, we must never be keepers...we must learn to be sharers. To share is to participate in, use, enjoy and experience jointly . The Word of God was given to us to help us grow and mature in our faith and to SHARE. The skills that we have, our very own specific characteristics and personality traits are for SHARING. Our resources of talent and finances are to be SHARED. We participate, enjoy and experience all of the wonderful things that the Lord has in store for us every day! Think of it like this... if you care, you will share ! It's time to SHARE. There is nothing that I like more than sharing a cup of joe

Good Plans

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. What an amazing thought this is: to realize that God has a plan for ME! The Creator of the universe...the One who hurls the stars into place...who made the oceans form and the mountains rise has a plan for me! But it gets even better! Not only does the Grand Designer of all there is have a plan, that plan is for good and provides me with hope and a future. When I began Dreams2Destiny Center in 1997, there was little structure to the organization. I had a dream to help others realize their dreams and then move in the direction of making them happen. They were good plans indeed! What God prepared for me started as a simple idea. Fueled by passion it then became a company that helped people get unstuck in their lives and move forward. God even networked me with other dreamers and awesome things started to happen. This blog began and I

What Do You Expect?

ACTS 3: 1One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2Now a man crippled from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" 5So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them .
Peter and John were going to church to pray. Everyday there was a certain man right by the gate who begged for money. He had been crippled from birth and was placed in the same spot at the same time every day. On this particular day as Peter and John walked by, the man asked them for money. The bible says that Peter looked right at him and said, "look at us". They were attempting to get this man to FOCUS on something other than his condition. So the man gave them his attentio

Wanna Get Away?

Psalm 5:11-12 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;let them sing joyful praises forever.Spread your protection over them, that all who love your name may be filled with joy. For you bless the godly, O Lord;you surround them with your shield of love. There is a place you can be where safety and joy surround you. A place where there is peace: perfect peace. Often our daily grind can get a bit overwhelming. Days can be filled with chaos, confusion and loud noise that attempt to distract and disrupt you. You want to get away; you need to get away! Take refuge(find your safety) in the Lord today. Fall into his arms and let him protect you from the harsh and hurtful moments. He will bless you in every way. He's got you covered and his favor surrounds you!

You are Marvelous!

Psalm 139:14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. Did you know just how special you are? You are wonderfully made, hand-crafted by God, designed for an amazing life filled with blessings. With so much potential in us, why are we so overwhelmed and defeated at times? Personally I believe that the times we live in are getting harder. Our society changes through the years and though there are many good things around us, evil multiplies too. We need to consistently examine what we are doing and why we are doing it. I love the way that Psalm 139 ends as a prayer asking God to search inside and point out to us where we need to improve. It seems to me that I am always trying to close a gap in my life so that I can keep the enemy at bay. The Good News is that I still can! Why? Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made...I am marvelously complex! You are too! Ask God to search your heart and show you things that can be mod

Get Me Out of Here!

Psalm 55:4 My insides are turned inside out;specters of death have me down.I shake with fear,I shudder from head to foot.“Who will give me wings,” I ask—“wings like a dove?”Get me out of here on dove wings;I want some peace and quiet.I want a walk in the country,I want a cabin in the woods.I’m desperate for a change from rage and stormy weather. Ever had a season where life was so difficult that it felt like your insides were being ripped out? Ever wanted to just fly away? Or wished you could have some peace and quiet-take a walk in the country-have a cabin in the woods? Me too! Who'll give me wings? It's nice to know that this man after God's own heart, David, had those feelings too! Life can be brutal and the people in it too. But God has a way of showing up right on time to stand with you, lift you up and get you back into a favorable place again. So go ahead and turn that frown upside down. No flight, no walk in the woods to your cabin can bring you peace like w

Psalm 27:4-6 The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. For he will conceal me there when troubles come;he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock. Then I will hold my head highabove my enemies who surround me.At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the Lord with music. Every one of us needs to find that "safe" place...that " sanctuary ". A sanctuary is the place where you can be yourself and let down all the defenses and just rejoice in the presence of your Creator. Reading these scriptures closely we can see that there is an amazing personally benefit to finding the "sanctuary" of the Lord. 1-His sanctuary is a place to delightfully live. True happiness comes as we dwell in that place. 2-His sanctuary is a place of refuge. There we es

God Is With You

Genesis 39:2-3 The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did. We often think that our success hinges on us being talented, motivated and making our own way. After all, we should look out for number one right? Though it is good to be motivated and also assertive, our character will always be more valuable than our talent. Adversity will bring out what is inside of you. Joseph was a teenager with an attitude and a dream. A dream he liked to tell everyone about. His assertive spirit took him to a pit at first. Then all that motivation got him sold to some traders for twenty pieces of silver. Life had not been kind and from the outside, you would think he was plagued with some bad luck. But his character was undeniable. He knew God had a plan for him and God stayed with him from the pit to the palaces of his lif

Dad's Just Can't

There are lots of things that regular people can do but dads just can't. Dad's just can't sleep when the kids are still out. Dads just can't cross the street without holding hands. They can push, but dad's just can't swing. When dads play hide-and-seek they always get found, but they just can't seem to find you. Dad's just can't give up on their kids. Dad's just can't leave without saying "I love you" to their family. And dad's just can't ever be beat! My dad is and has always been my hero. thanks dad for helping to shape me into a man that loves God and his family. I want to send out a special wish to my "pop"! Hope you enjoy your Fathers Day weekend!

What is the Truth?

The other day I was trying to figure out the "truth" in a situation that I was in. It seems that these days truth is more relative than absolute. In other words, if the truth doesn't work for you, change the version of the truth. How crazy is that? We need the truth! Why? Because there are so many deceptions in this world. A deception is a subtle bending of the truth. There's just enough truth to make you believe it and theres just enough lie to not make it true. If we have no absolute standard for truth, we will never "know the truth" and therefore we will never be truly set free. Deception brings compromise and compromise washes away truth. We need to stop spiritual erosion. How? Look at Psalm 1 as it describes a life that is blessed and happy: Oh, the joys of those who do not  follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners,  or join in with mockers. 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,  meditating on it day a

Are You Willing?

When was the last time you made a decision that required action but you fell short in completing the task? Yesterday? This morning? Being willing is only part of the process. Good intentions are great but they must be followed up by good actions. Philippians 2:13 tells us that "it is God at work in you both to will and to do according to his good pleasure" . Having a "will" speaks of the desire. The "to do" part is what we need more of. Today why not put some legs of action behind the things that you really desire to do. The Lord will give YOU the desires of your heart. What you do with them will all be left up to you and how you let God work IN you. So ask bad do you really want it? What are you WILLing TO DO?

Inspire Me! (4 Ways to be inspired)

Inspire! What does it mean to be inspired? It means to be lifted to a higher level. I have a need to be lifted higher in some way each and every day! There are just so many things and people pulling me down that I crave a little lift all the time! I think we all need to find places of inspiration and ways to be inspired. When our spirits are up our energy and productivity increases too. Finding inspiration can be a challenge. Let me offer a few ways that I find a little lift that might be useful for you too. 1-turn on your favorite music and spend a few moments sitting and listening with your eyes closed. 2-write down something that you would like to see in you...maybe a characteristic or emotion. Sometimes you have to see it to be it . 3-find some folks that do what you want to do and have coffee or lunch. Being in the presence of folks that are doing what you desire to do can energize you and ignite passion in you. 4-pray! You should probably do this first because G

Be Content!

There are many dis-satisfied people today. They want to work less, make more money, have better things, and see gas prices drop! Oh to be satisfied! In 1 Timothy 6 it gives us another look at this dilemma: " for we didn't bring anything with us when we came into this world and we certainly cannot carry anything with us when we die ." It goes on to say " if we have food and covering, let us be content ." Let us be satisfied with what we have and trust God to bring us what we need for the future. It's called contentment . Without Christ, we will all be saying I can't get no satisfaction. With Christ we are saying "I'm lovin' it!" Godliness is a way towards great grace when it is partnered with contentment. Look at all that is around you today. Look at who is there and be happy about where you are right now. God can place you where you want to be at just the right time. It all starts by saying it. Proverbs 13:2 tells us that satisfa

Glory to God!

Ephesians 3:20-21 Now all glory to God , who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. Glory to God, He is able! He is able to heal, able to deliver, able to provide, able to protect...He is able! Glory to God! I think that believing this is hard because we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by the drama that invades our life. We want to see God's power and watch Him work to change the situation. Don't miss the hidden gem in this text that tells you how to accomplish more than you ever thought you could. That power, His power is at work...IN US!!! That's right, inside of you today is enough power, enough faith and enough knowledge and skill to turn around any situation for the good. It can even turn out to be better than you ever imagined! More than you've thought of, more than you've asked for..

Ask the Right Questions

How does a man after God's own heart reach deep within to find strength and power to survive? He encourages himself. He talks to God. David was not afraid to ask questions. The key to asking questions is to ask the right ones. As David looked out over the ruins of Ziklag, as he faced the wavering loyalty of his own men, he came up with two questions for God. The first one was "should I pursue this troop?". Should I go after these people that kidnapped my family and destroyed our city? David knew that some battles were not his to fight and he wanted some direction from his Lord about this one. What he was really asking is what part am I to play in this battle. He wanted to know his responsibility. The second question is my personal favorite..."will I win?". Not only did he desire to know his responsibility, he wanted to know the end result! What should I do and what will the outcome be? Great questions. And a great God would answer him. David was told that

Hand it Over!

" Commit to the Lord WHATEVER you do. and your plans will succeed ." Proverbs 16:3 The other morning as I got up I felt a desperate need for some instruction from the Lord to handle a problem I was facing. I wanted a specific word from Him so that I could simply follow it and succeed. I expected a three step approach with a couple of prayers in the middle. What I got was the scripture above. No specific guidance, just a promise that WHATEVER I commit to Him WILL SUCCEED! I thought about that and then ran to the dictionary to look up the word COMMIT. Here are just some meanings of commit... to give TRUST (to the Lord) to give in trust for preservation to bind or obligate, as by pledge or assurance to entrust for safekeeping to pledge to engage (hook up with the Lord) So He was telling me that as I TRUST Him and hand over(ENTRUST) my troubles, as I pledge to engage Him, He promises to make WHATEVER I do successful. I cannot lose! I guess that is why the scrip

Wide Open Spaces

Proverbs 15:32 An undisciplined, self-willed life is puny;an obedient, God-willed life is spacious. Wide open spaces...I love to be able to see for miles and miles and enjoy the beauty of Gods creation. My trip last year to the Rocky Mountains was absolutely breathtaking. There is nothing quite like living out in the open and with limited restrictions. My house is in a cul-de-sac and the backyard looks out through a large open field. You can sit on the patio and see nearly a mile away. It's a beautiful and somewhat relaxing view. However, being in windy Oklahoma, any type of trash or debris in that field often blows into my backyard. It seemed that every day I needed to do maintenance and clean up. Finally, I just decided to have a fence. Now I have no trash abut my morning view is the inside of a wooden fence! Less than spectacular:( Obedience to God's ways brings us that wide open spacious living. Being I disciplined makes everything feel all fenced in. Though

Teach me how to live, O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. (Psalms 27:11, 14 NLT) There are many challenges we face each and every day. When you desire to live for the Lord with all your heart, there is an enemy waiting to derail you. Our prayer is to diligently part to be taught the right way to live in every situation. We want to be led along the path that takes us to the places that the Lord intended for us to be. Along with the prayer comes one of our favorite things...waiting! What does it take to wait...and wait...and wait? It takes courage! Jesus told the disciples, "take courage, it's me!" He was teaching them that not everything come instantly. But it does come in due season. Wait patiently today. Be brave. Take courage. Things are about to change for the better!
