Losing Our Identity

2 Corinthians 10:12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. One of the hardest things to do when you are unhappy, bored or disouraged is to not compare your life with someone else's. Some have called it a comparison trap. Oftentimes when we are idle or restless in our own lives, we seem to notice what is going on and into the lives of others. When this happens we lose our own identity. It's not wise to compare yourself to another person or your life to their life.  Don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. You are exactly the way you are supposed to be. Don't let the weakness in you affect the greatness in you. You have been given all that you need to be the success that God desires for you. Settle down and settle in to that best version of you that we all want to see. You are amazing!

Simplicity and Purity

2Co 11:2  For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin.   But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.  For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully.
Could Paul have recognized a common trouble we have in the Church universal? A different gospel that takes us away from the simplicity and purity of a Jesus centered life? Things like “if we behave the right way, the Lord will bless us?” As if our performance, our act is going to make Him love us more? Our leadership team has gone back to basics to take a good look at the Gospel of Jesus Christ and what Jesus did for us. He will never love you any more than He does right now. And He will never love you any less!

Stop for a moment and look at your prayer life and the things that matter to you. Are you giving time, talent and treasures in hopes of gaining a deeper love from the Lord? You can’t earn His love. You can’t out give Him. So why not stop working so hard to gain something that is already yours? Now that’s a different gospel isn’t it?
