Losing Our Identity

2 Corinthians 10:12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. One of the hardest things to do when you are unhappy, bored or disouraged is to not compare your life with someone else's. Some have called it a comparison trap. Oftentimes when we are idle or restless in our own lives, we seem to notice what is going on and into the lives of others. When this happens we lose our own identity. It's not wise to compare yourself to another person or your life to their life.  Don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. You are exactly the way you are supposed to be. Don't let the weakness in you affect the greatness in you. You have been given all that you need to be the success that God desires for you. Settle down and settle in to that best version of you that we all want to see. You are amazing!

Black and Blue Friday

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NIV)
Last night I was completely surprised as I dashed into the store for something only to run head first into the Black Friday sale that had started at dinner time Thursday! It was clear that people were on a mission. They were looking for a great bargain and a way to stretch their money for holiday gifts. As I passed through my usual glance at the electronics department someone yelled my name and after a brief conversation, I realized how easy it is to get caught up in the "experience" that was happening. By this time the store was filled with people lining up and getting ready for something special. Don't let Black Friday turn into Black and Blue Friday:)
Today, you may still be out looking for deals or you might have just returned home and be headed for some rest. My prayer for you is the prayer that I pray for myself. To be filled with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit and to have an over abundance of joy and peace as I trust in the Lord. If we allow this to happen we can truly realize just what the popular Christmas song says, "it's the most wonderful time of the year". Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
