Have YOU Hit Rock Bottom?

This past weekend pushed my spirit to the very limit J Our church has been struggling a bit financially and we were close to the midnight hour. I was already feeling some stress.   And then my daughter came in from school saying her car was messing up. It was her brakes. In looking at the brakes I also realized that she needed tires. So we trusted God and got all of the things fixed. As I was getting ready to preach Sunday morning, my daughter arrived at the church and said she backed out of our garage and ran into her brother’s car in the driveway who was visiting us this weekend! I really think I went into shock! I hit rock bottom. I would say that the bottom just fell out. It affected everything I did that day. My faith was truly tested. Looking back on the avalanche of bad news and challenges I realized that as a believer, the bottom never falls out because when everything else is gone, when all the stuff is stripped away, what you have left is JESUS. He IS the foundation. He i

A Faith Prayer

In James 5:15 it talks about an  effectual and fervent prayer . What exactly is an effectual, fervent prayer? One translation calls it a  prayer offered in faith . Call it a "faith prayer". In other words, when we talk to God about something going on in our life we ought to believe that it will change. Of course it must be in line with His Word. But we must believe that what we are asking will actually happen. Belief is the path to the manifestation. I think too often we negate the very words we pray with our own words of doubt and unbelief. Every word spoken in doubt needs a word of faith to cancel it out. What could happen in your life today if you had an attitude adjustment and began to actually believe that God could come through like YOU need Him to for you? Would you act differently? I would hope you would begin talking as if the answer were already being dispatched in your direction because it is! An effectual(constructive, worthwhile) and fervent(intense, passion

The Perfect Gift

" Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows ." James 1:17 What is the perfect gift? Most of us would probably answer that question by saying that it would be something that we wanted very much. Others would lean to something that they really need. What we want and what we need may be far different things! The good news today is that God gave you a gift. A good and perfect gift. When you give your heart to the Lord, that heart is changed. It is made new. It feels different, loves different, and causes you to act and speak differently too. We all have some type of heart trouble and for someone that battles heart disease, a new heart is the perfect gift ! (literally and figuratively) Like all of God's gifts, a new heart is not only something we want but something we need. God always gives the perfect gift. When you live your life for Christ you realize that you are "gifte

Don't Quit: Do It!

"Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."  - Thomas Edison  I often wonder about "timing" and why most of the things I pray for don't show up until the final hour. Have your ever experienced that? I wonder how many things in my life changed because I gave in too soon? Let me keep it real simple's always too soon to quit.  If you are thinking about giving up on a dream or idea take a moment today to ask yourself this question:"If the blessing you were waiting on was coming later today, would you still stop moving forward?"My guess is you would say absolutely not!  Don't give up! Trust in the Lord and don't lean on what you know. Hold up your head and hold out your hope! You could be soooo close! Don't it!

Here's my 911

Are you going through a difficult season? Does it seem like everything and everyone is against you?Are you overwhelmed by the struggles? Here's some good news...the Lord is aware of all you are going through and He wants desperately to help you! He wants to help! He is for you right now! And if God is for you, who can stand against you! The answer..NO ONE and NOTHING! One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 91 which is packed with encouragement. In fact whenever I have these feelings of despair, I love reading this psalm. Psalm 91:14-16 The Lord says, “ I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation .”  Did you catch all of the amazing help in that scripture? God says "I will" over and over. There is rescue, protection, answers, companionship, honor, rewards of a long life and e

Never Give Up!

Did you know that Sir Winston Churchill took three years to finish the 8th grade because he had trouble learning English? Ironically years later he was invited to speak at the commencement exercises at Oxford University! As he arrived in front of the very appreciative applause of his admirers he walked to the podium; cigar, cane and top hat in tow. He removed the cigar from his mouth, set down his top hat and looked right into the eyes of the audience and said, " never give up !"After several seconds of silence he shouted once again, " never give up !" A profound silence gripped the crowd as he grabbed his hat and cigar and descended from the platform. His speech was over. That six-word exhortation was undoubtedly not the most eloquent speech given at that distinguished university. But I am certain that every person in the audience on that day remembered this one big message for the rest of their lives. Discouragement has stopped many people from achieving their

Great Friday

Imagine your life being completely turned upside down in one week. Going from sounds of laughter and singing to the chilling sounds of iron breaking bone. Jesus went on a physical and emotional roller-coaster during his final week on earth. And through it all He stayed on point and completed the mission for why He was be a living sacrifice that would save mankind for all eternity. Skies turning black, the earth trembling and the Messiah breathing His last breath on the cross is probably not what anyone would describe as a good Friday. But for those that choose to follow Jesus and the teachings of His Word, these things fulfilled prophecy and made a way for us to be saved and healed. That makes it a good   GREAT Friday ! I want to encourage you to pursue Jesus for yourself during this Easter season. If you look for Him you will find Him. And when you find Him, you will find so much more! May God bless you and your family during this Easter weekend!
