Losing Our Identity

2 Corinthians 10:12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. One of the hardest things to do when you are unhappy, bored or disouraged is to not compare your life with someone else's. Some have called it a comparison trap. Oftentimes when we are idle or restless in our own lives, we seem to notice what is going on and into the lives of others. When this happens we lose our own identity. It's not wise to compare yourself to another person or your life to their life.  Don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. You are exactly the way you are supposed to be. Don't let the weakness in you affect the greatness in you. You have been given all that you need to be the success that God desires for you. Settle down and settle in to that best version of you that we all want to see. You are amazing!

Are You a Gazer or a Praiser?

This is the season of hope. Hope is defined as a cherished expectation that something good is going to happen. I had a difficult  time separating myself from His mission as I often feel unworthy to  deliver inspiring, life changing messages. There are so many folks struggling with the holidays because of fragmented families and a depleted bank account. When I reach my most challenging times, God whispers words into my ear...
Joe, stop gazing at what has left you and start praising Me for what is about to come. Are you a gazer or a praiser? The season of advent is about hope, expectation and the arrival of Christ. It's what advent means: the coming and arrival of Christ. The first advent was as a baby. The second will be as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! We can celebrate while we wait!
Maybe you have struggled to hold on to hope. The bible tells us that HOPE does not disappoint...if we are hoping in CHRIST. Maybe together, you and Cup of Joe can look forward to what God has in store for us in this special season of Christmas. See hope being restored and elevated in you. Things are about to change and some great and incredible blessings are on their way into your life! Are you ready to be overtaken by them? Stop gazing and start praising!
