Losing Our Identity

2 Corinthians 10:12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. One of the hardest things to do when you are unhappy, bored or disouraged is to not compare your life with someone else's. Some have called it a comparison trap. Oftentimes when we are idle or restless in our own lives, we seem to notice what is going on and into the lives of others. When this happens we lose our own identity. It's not wise to compare yourself to another person or your life to their life.  Don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. You are exactly the way you are supposed to be. Don't let the weakness in you affect the greatness in you. You have been given all that you need to be the success that God desires for you. Settle down and settle in to that best version of you that we all want to see. You are amazing!

Ice Cream Truck Song

I Peter 5:7, TLB. "Let Him have all your worries and cares, for He is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you."
Look around you today at the faces of people. What you may see are frowns and black circles under their eyes. Unhappy stares and faces showing the signs of an incredible amount of wear and tear. Anxiety and stress are taking a toll on many people today. We worry about whether our children will be safe. We worry about whether we are going to lose our job or even our house. And we worry about whether or not people are going to like us and what we do. Each of these things has been covered by the Lord already!
I remember one day as I was walking through the neighborhood and heard an old familiar sound...the song of the little white ice cream truck. Just hearing it coming made me feel good! As it drove passed me I felt happy, peaceful and excited as I watched the little kids run to the next block to meet him. They were about to forget all of their troubles with a simple double dip of sweetness! That little song brought out the smiles, the excitement and the joy of everybody!
The Bible says to let Him have ALL your worries...and cares! To exchange your anxiety for His peace. How do we do that? By remembering what this verse says: He is always thinking about us and watching everything that concerns us. The Lord is an EVER-PRESENT help for each of us in any trouble. So we no longer have to be anxious about what may or may not happen. All we have to do is trust Him! You say, Lord, I know that you are watching everything and that you are well aware of what is going on around me and inside of me...help! Can I remind you that He wants to answer you because He created you! He is our little white ice cream truck song!
Why not trade-in your burdens today and see what it feels like to release the stress! Turn that frown into a smile. Couldn't you use a double dip of sweetness? I hear that ice cream truck sing again! Gotta go!
