Losing Our Identity

2 Corinthians 10:12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. One of the hardest things to do when you are unhappy, bored or disouraged is to not compare your life with someone else's. Some have called it a comparison trap. Oftentimes when we are idle or restless in our own lives, we seem to notice what is going on and into the lives of others. When this happens we lose our own identity. It's not wise to compare yourself to another person or your life to their life.  Don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. You are exactly the way you are supposed to be. Don't let the weakness in you affect the greatness in you. You have been given all that you need to be the success that God desires for you. Settle down and settle in to that best version of you that we all want to see. You are amazing!

No Power to Weep

1 Samuel 30:4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep
Have you ever had one of those seasons in life when nothing turns out the way you thought it would? You've prayed, you've confessed every good thing and maintained positive thoughts and still, no thing! I have been praying and searching for a place to live that would meet my need and go beyond my expectations and everything that I had working that seemed to be a sure thing has collapsed. I found myself surrounded by discouragement in every way.
I went back to read this story of David in 1 Samuel. He came back from doing what God gifted him to do only to find his home burned down and his family kidnapped. Expecting a home cooked meal and some great companionship only to find ashes and devastation. And what did David do?
He encouraged himself in the Lord. You cannot always depend on other people. The boss may not have a positive word for you. Your family may not know how to approach you. So you and I need to know how to pick ourselves up and get back on our feet!
David gained some hope by talking to God about all that was happening. And then he put some movement behind his thoughts.
Life does not always hand us the expected result. We can all go through a season of dryness where the rain of blessing ceases. I don't know what God is up to in my life but I still know that He has EVERYthing in control. So I encourage myself with that! Pick yourself up and start talking to the Lord again. Then go after your dream with relentless pursuit! Just as David did, you will recover ALL!
