Time for Christmas Cookies

Several years ago I put together one of my favorite books: Christmas Cookies: Edible Treats for Your Body and Soul . This book includes a dozen devotional thoughts along with a dozen of my favorite Christmas Cookie recipes. It created one of the most wonderful seasons at our church and now several other churches across the country have also adopted this idea with amazing results. Today I wanted to share one of the devotional cookies for you to enjoy and share.  #christmascookies #tistheseason#itsthemostwonderfultimeoftheyear Order your own copy of the book!  Get Your Book today!

There Was a Purpose

Oftentimes we meet people that can cause us to wonder what that relationship was all about. Imagine today that every person you meet comes into your life for a purpose. What if that purpose was to help you grow? What if they were to open you up to know more about yourself? What if they were in your life to bring out the best version of you? Take a moment today to think of the people that have come in and out of your life over the years. There was a purpose for each and every one of them. What have you learned?

Several years ago when my book "Dreams2Destiny" came out, I went on a mini book tour. It was a very exciting time as I appeared on television programs like Daystar and the Harvest program with Lesea Broadcasting. As I was traveling from from city to city I had lots of time to think about what I was doing, the books I was writing and what God may be wanting me to do. It was an intimate time where He and I talked quite often and His revelation was being downloaded to me. It was in that season of time that this acronym was in my mind: L.E.A.F. ; Laziness, Exaggeration Apathy and Fear.  It seemed to me that every time you begin to let that DREAM God gave you come alive, these things start to fall upon it, like fall leaves on the front lawn. So many of us allow this pile to completely cover up what God intended for us and often it is never uncovered and the dream fades. As I was traveling I realized that I was on a mission help people blow this leaf pile off of their future

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power   of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13 NIV) I remember one year being completely surprised as I dashed into the store for something only to run head first into the Black Friday sale that had started at dinner time on Thanksgiving Thursday! It was clear that people were on a mission. They were looking for a great bargain and a way to stretch their money for holiday gifts. I realized how easy it is to get caught up in the "experience" that was happening. Soon the store was filled with people lining up and getting ready for something special. Don't let Black Friday turn into  Black and Blue Friday! Today, you may still be out looking for deals or you might have just returned home and be headed for some rest. My prayer for you is the prayer that I pray for myself: to be filled with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit and to have an over abundance

God's Glory

I've been enjoying some nice weather in Florida this week. I decided to trek to PCB-Panama City Beach which was hit violently by a hurricane not too long ago. It didn't take long for them to get things up and running but there are definite signs of the magnitude of that storm in the debris and the visible rebuilding efforts. Trucks and workers are here from all over the country. In fact, I met two of those workers last night from Palestine, Texas who were returning home today. As I walked through many of the neighborhoods, I just began to thank the Lord for His goodness and mercy as I prayed for these families and their properties. In the place I am staying, you could see the destruction walking out of the front of the building but when you walked out to the back where the beach was, it was still a pristine paradise. What you see and feel determines on which was you go. Yes, that was my spiritual lesson for today! Did you get it? This image was shot right across the

Time of Abundance

As I take this week to unplug and detach from my daily grind, these words were a great encouragement to me from the Lord. I felt like they could also apply right now to whatever you are doing. Let me say pass them on to you: This is a time of ABUNDANCE in your life Your cup will overflow with blessings Enjoy this time of ease and refreshment Know this today, the Lord takes great pleasure in making these moments happen for you so that you can reboot, refresh and renew yourself. ** THIS IS A TIME OF ABUNDANCE in your life. Your cup runneth over with blessings. After plodding uphill for many weeks, you are now traipsing through lush meadows drenched in warm sunshine. I want you to enjoy to the full this time of ease and refreshment. I delight in providing it for you.

Lord, You Are...

Psalm 3:3  But You, O LORD, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head . Lord you are MY shield . All around me…I am completely covered by the power of the Lord. On my right and my left, ahead of me and behind me. No weapon formed against me can prosper for I am unable to be penetrated! Divine protection. Lord you are MY glory . David was a prominent man with status and position. Yet he knew that his identity and his value was not in his job or military rank…His validation came from God! Your identity is not tied to your past…your value is not tied to your performance…He is YOUR glory…your validation comes from Him not people! You are divinely defined! Lord you are the One who lifts my head . In those days when the king lifted up your head it meant that you were accepted. You were once again restored to the place that you had been. On the other hand when the king put his foot on your neck, it meant that rather than lift up your head he was about to cut of

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. EPH 5:1-2  As I read these verse today I laughed a little bit. I thought about my youngest son and how much he reminds me of myself. He's 26 now but the one incident I remember was when he was just a little guy. It was a Sunday morning, I was getting ready to preach and he was with me in the kitchen. He wanted a waffle so I did what most other men would do. I got the frozen Eggo waffles out to toast him his breakfast! I was all dressed and ready to go and he was watching me bounce around the kitchen getting his food ready. As I reached into the pantry for the syrup it slipped out of my hand and fell to the floor. The impact caused the cap to pop open and a single stream of syrup rifled out that drew a line straight down my body from the top of my shirt to th

Veterans Day

Today we honor the men and women who fight to keep us safe and free! Thank you Veterans for your service!

If Only...

Yes, if only:) Unfortunately there is not a simple switch but there is a scriptural solution! In 1 Peter 5:7 it says, Give all your worries and cares to God for He cares about you. In the Psalm 55 it says that He will sustain the ones that are able to accomplish this. Worry can do nothing for you. Turn your worries into prayers.  God cares about all that is happening in you and around you. Don't let anxiety steal your peace.  This is your day to feel joy once again!

Thunder in the Desert

John 1:19-20 When Jews from Jerusalem sent a group of priests and officials to ask John who he was, he was completely honest. He didn't evade the question. He told the plain truth: "I am not the Messiah." 21 They pressed him, "Who, then? Elijah?" "I am not." "The Prophet?" "No." 22 Exasperated, they said, "Who, then? We need an answer for those who sent us. Tell us something—anything!—about yourself." 23 "I'm thunder in the desert : 'Make the road straight for God!' John the Baptist was an influencer. He made a way for others to find their way to the Messiah. He was unconventional and perhaps a bit eccentric. And in the Message Bible translation he describes himself as “ thunder in the desert ”. Thunder is loud, powerful and rocks the area in which it rumbles. In other words, it makes an impact and a sound that is unmistakable. John may not have been the most eloquent or best dressed, but he knew th

God Does What You Can't

How many times have you felt like you were at your wits end and everything in your life had unravelled? Things can be really challenging at times and we can become exhausted by the fight. When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hold on!  The good news is that when you come to the end of your strength, well that's when God's strength begins. His strength is perfect. His power is unlimited. He lifts us up when we are unable to get back on our feet. Hang in there, hold on and know that things can change in the blink of an eye!

I'm So Happy!

Yes, I am so happy today. Not just today. I try to live happily every day. Happiness is what everyone seems to be searching for. It was Abe Lincoln that said, " most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be ." Fact is,  true happiness depends on you . I want to give you three quick ways to get back on the happy train and start living in the joy that God intended you to have. First,  Act  like what you desire to see happen is happening . When you were a child you probably used to play make-believe when you were alone or when you wanted to put yourself in another place. You became the person that you wanted to be. Some of you may actually be doing the things you acted out as a child. Before I became the founding pastor of The Landing, I prepared teachings and studied out ideas that I thought could help people. I committed to use my skill set for any size group of folks that God placed in my path. I acted as if I was already the preacher of a church that
