God Fingers

My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart. Proverbs 7:1-3 We need to stay focused on what God is doing and and what He wants to do on the earth. He longs to download His plans and purposes to the ones that will treasure His commands. Holding His Word dear to our hearts is how we truly live the life He created us for.  In verse 3 we get some insight on how to spread the Good News. It encourages us to  bind the Word on our fingers and write the Word on the tablet of our hearts . We already know that whatever is in our heart is going to come out of our mouth. His Words should be imprinted deeply on our hearts.  When you bind the Word to your fingers  you place His impression on everything you touch . Imagine a world where everyone is in sync with their divine plan and all day long they just keep spreading this virus:the God virus! S

Bring Out the Best

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life —and place it before God as an offering.  Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. Romans 12:1-2 MSG If life feels a bit chaotic and out of control, place it in God's hands today. Just as the Word says, you will be changed from the inside out.  When you help to bring out the best in others, God brings out the best in you!  So what are you aiming for? What are you doing with your talents and abilities? Take your everyday, ordina

He Hears Us

I talk to people every day that feel like their prayers are never heard by God. Some believe this is because of the way they have lived lived their lives while others feel this way simply because they haven't developed a personal relationships with Jesus Christ. The scripture highlighted in our #saturdaysmiles video today brings some clarity to all of this: "This is the confidence that we have in approaching God: that is we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him." 1 John 5:14-15 NIV He hears us. He answers us. Life is better with Him than without Him. Today, you can approach God with confidence. He will hear and he will answer and YOU will be better in every way because of it! That's the Truth

The other day I was trying to figure out the "truth" in a situation that I was in. It seems that these days truth is more relative than absolute. In other words, if the truth doesn't work for you, change the version of the truth. How crazy is that? In days like these we need the truth! Why? Because there are so many deceptions taking place. A deception is defined as a subtle bending of the truth. There's just enough truth to make you believe it and there's just enough lie to not make it true. If we have no absolute standard for truth, we will never really "know the truth" and therefore we will never be truly set free. Deception brings compromise and compromise washes away truth. We need to stop spiritual erosion. How? Look at Psalm 1 as it describes a life that is blessed and happy: Oh, the joys of those who do not  follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners,  or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lor

It's a Privilege

By God’s grace and mighty power, I have been given  the privilege of serving  him by spreading this Good News . Eph 3:7 As I sit in my living room, with my fresh cup of joe, I am smiling on the inside and the outside thinking about the amazing people that I get to work with. Why am I so happy? Because I have been given the  privilege of serving  the Lord with some of the most talented people on the planet. And I firmly believe that it is a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to open the living Word of God, allow His spirit to enlighten me and then open my mouth to proclaim the lessons I am learning by using His power. It's an honor to be able to do videos like #saturdaysmiles each week to encourage people and build up the body of Christ. There is nothing better than growing in the Lord and growing together with the people God plants around you. What’s so awesome about this “ privilege ” is that each one of us has it !  God’s grace is more than what you need to a

Coming Together

“All I'm saying is simply this, that all life is interrelated, that somehow we're caught in an inescapable network of mutuality tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. For some strange reason, I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. You can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality." —Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King is remembere d today for so many things and the common thread seems to be the idea of all types of people coming together. Why? Because we are all connected. We live in a time where people look out for themselves and decide that if they can take care of #1, nothing else really matters. That could not be farther from the truth. Perhaps my future is connected to yours. My hopes to yours. My dream may not be realized until you see you have one too. The Creator made us all to function together. Our faith and bel

Closer Than You Think

The Lord is  close to the brokenhearted  and  saves those who are crushed  in spirit . PS 34:18 If you have been on this planet any length of time, you have probably experienced a broken heart and a crushed spirit. We are unable to control what happens to us or what people may do that hurts us. What we are able to control is our response. When our lives are centered in Christ we have some blessed assurance that the psalmist reminds us about today: the Lord will be close when our hearts are broken and he will save us when our hopes are crushed. When your heart is broken you have difficulty trusting anyone and you may tend to isolate yourself from others. That isolation can lead to a season of insulation-where you protect yourself from others in a variety of ways. As you isolate and insulate yourself, you set yourself up to be manipulated by the enemy and ultimately dominated by things that intend to destroy you. When your spirit is crushed you may even go so far as to give u

Fasting and Prayer

Once again, our church is starting the year with a season of fasting and prayer. It seems like many individuals and churches make this decision to begin the year by purging out all physical and spiritual toxins. It’s never a bad idea! It has taken me several days to ramp up to this in 2019. It’s always challenging for me because my birthday lands on January 2nd  and of course, there is cake! Last year I attempted to use every birthday food and drink coupon I received before I started the fast. This year, what slowed me down wasn’t the coupons but rather my hearts desire to do something that would surrender my ideas and allow me to open up to the Lords in a fresh, new way. People always talk about their will power to fast anything. I didn’t want to give in to my wants. I wanted to move from "let my will be done" to "Thy will be done". I remember when Jesus went into the Garden of Gethsemane and was praying to the Lord about the path in front of him. He prayed,

Get Your Hopes Up

Ephesians 1:11  It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone . What a great way to begin the week...knowing that God has his eye on us and He has some design plans for our lives! Sometimes I think to myself, "I know that there is a reason for everything but sometimes I wish I knew what the reason was!" He knows the best way to get all of those things he placed in me out and into the world to glorify himself. So my role is simple: let him do what he desires with what he made...ME! I love the line in this text about getting our hopes up. I used to be the type of person that always expected the worst so that when anything but the worst happened, it all seemed good. All that caused me was a great deal of time expecting no good things. In Christ we find o

Don't be Sad

Seasonal affective disorder  (SAD) is a type of depression that occurs at a certain time of the year, usually in the winter. Symptoms can occur in the late autumn and winter months and then go into remission in the spring and summer. Not surprisingly, people who live in places with long winter nights are at greater risk of SAD. In fact 5 percent of the U.S. population experiences SAD. And rates of SAD are even higher in northern states where there’s less daylight in the winter.  That's just so SAD . In reality, the weather is just a small part of what can lead people to isolate and insulate themselves from others. Tough work conditions, financial struggles, and lots of critical and negative people can also make you sad. There is a way to help turn that frown upside down! Get outdoors and take a walk in the sun. Get up early and spend time with the Son. (Jesus) Light is one of the key treatments for depression and anxiety. Maybe that is why Jesus wanted us to be the light of

Let it Pour

Could you take a few moments today to let the incredible truth of this scripture to sink in? Every spiritual blessing has already been lavished upon you! EVERY blessing poured out all over you as a love gift. Now that should make you shout a bit! This week I have been reminded how much God loves me and how much He wants to bless my life. I also realize that those blessings are tied to His people. In other words, He calls me to serve Him and connects me to His people. When I run with His crowd I see His power and glory show up in every area of my life. Every spiritual blessing...every part of my life...every day of my life. Let this soak in today and then move out into the world to connect with the people that God has placed there. Move in His power. It's the same power that raised Jesus from the dead and right now, it is moving through you! Praying for you!

Can YOU Feel It?

The Spirit of God, the Master, is on me because God anointed me. He sent me to preach good news to the poor, heal the heartbroken, Announce freedom to all captives, pardon all prisoners. God sent me to announce the year of his grace— a celebration of God’s destruction of our enemies— and to comfort all who mourn, To care for the needs of all who mourn in Zion, give them bouquets of roses instead of ashes, Messages of joy instead of news of doom, a praising heart instead of a languid spirit. Rename them “ Oaks of Righteousness ” planted by God to display his glory. They’ll  rebuild  the old ruins, raise  a new city out of the wreckage. They’ll  start over on the ruined cities, take the rubble left behind and make it new. You’ll hire outsiders to herd your flocks and foreigners to work your fields, But you’ll have the title “Priests of God,” honored as ministers of our God. You’ll feast on the bounty of nations, you’ll bask in their gl

Do to Others

Matthew 7:12 “Do to others what you would have them to do to you. This sums up the Law and the Prophets. Now that's some good counsel right there! Imagine a world where we all operated under this principle.  Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you!  Can you picture an office space where people treat each other like  they  want to be treated? How about a church where the people actually honor each other and are praying for the success of their brothers and sisters in the Lord? It may seem a bit up unreachable but if we approached our time with others intentionally behaving like we want them to behave around us, things would be different. It begins with one conversation, one meeting, one day. You want people to be kind to you, be kind. You want people to support you, support them. That about sums it up!

Here We Go!

And so it begins...a new year with a fresh start. The holidays are over and the celebrations have concluded. It's time to begin our annual journey once again. The word that keeps rolling through my head today is "potential". Your potential in this new year has no boundaries at this time. Potential is having the ability to develop into something in the future. The good news is that you have a say into what is accomplished in your life in 2019. What you put into this year will determine what you are able to take out. The whiteboard is clear of any old thoughts and ideas and ready for you to begin to list out the things that you are feeling in your heart and spirit. So what are YOU going to do? Where are YOU going to go?  Take a moment today to quiet all the noise and think about the broad landscape of unlimited potential that lies in front of you. Dream a BIG dream. Gather some great teammates to walk with you. Keep that smile on your face and don't let anyone
