Losing Our Identity

2 Corinthians 10:12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. One of the hardest things to do when you are unhappy, bored or disouraged is to not compare your life with someone else's. Some have called it a comparison trap. Oftentimes when we are idle or restless in our own lives, we seem to notice what is going on and into the lives of others. When this happens we lose our own identity. It's not wise to compare yourself to another person or your life to their life.  Don't fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others. You are exactly the way you are supposed to be. Don't let the weakness in you affect the greatness in you. You have been given all that you need to be the success that God desires for you. Settle down and settle in to that best version of you that we all want to see. You are amazing!

Faithbook

I was thinking about social networks today and how important they are to so many people. Then I thought about Jesus and wondered what He would think. If Jesus had a Facebook profile what would it look like? Can you think outside of the norm for just a moment today with me? What kinds of posts would you find on his wall? How about…
“Getting ready to walk across the sea again…really freaks out the guys!”
Or maybe you would read… “Did you know laughter is like good medicine?  :)LOL”
Or “keep using MY NAME in vain and I’ll make rush hour longer!”

How about his status updates? Things like “just fed a thousands of folks with a little boys sack lunch…love to see the looks on their faces when the bread multiplies!"

Would Jesus post "selfies" or pictures of the people that he was trying to minister to? What kind of “links” would he have…perhaps a link to healing, a link for those who hunger and thirst for righteousness?(of course all of these would come back to Him)
Oh and don't forget videos! Can you imagine Jesus uploading videos to YOUTUBE that meant absolutely nothing? I don’t think so either!

I do believe that He expects us to utilize the knowledge and expertise of our day to engage in society(culture) and evangelize those in our circle of influence. This can and will only happen when I get out of MYSPACE and into His. “Fix your attention of God” the scripture says. God is ready to bring out the best in you to help promote the best in others too. Use the social networks to lift up others and bring joy. And take some time today to get acquainted with this Faithbook, His Word, and start a spiritual profile. You will be connected to the largest social network in the world: the church of the living God!
