My Light and My Salvation

The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid ? Psalm 27:1 It's been a wild week and in the midst of all of the activity, this scripture rings out loud and clear. Life throws a lot of things at us. It can change in a moment. But in the middle of the darkness  there is always a light . When God is with you there is no thing  that can come up against you that you cannot overcome. Fear will give way to faith and when faith rises up life is good. Today I pray that the Lord becomes your stronghold and that He brings faith alive in you. Be strong and very courageous and the light of the Lord will keep you safe! Keep a strong hold on Him!  One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. (Psalm 27: 4 NIV)

God Knows

“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.  I will advise you and watch over you.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭32:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Do you believe that God knows what’s best for you? That He can help you to find the best path to take every time that you need to make a decision? This scripture is a nice reminder that He will always guide the person that surrenders their control and trusts in His leading. He also advises when there are many choices and we must choose wisely. And it’s comforting to know that His eye is watching over us each and every day! All too often, we want to try and manage our own path and we find ourselves off in a ditch or on an entirely wrong route. It’s time to let go of the wheel and trust the Lord. Let Him begin to guide you. Start to enjoy the journey and all that comes from knowing that He wants the absolute best for you every day and in every way. God knows what's best for YOU!

Let Go of Yesterday

Sometimes I like to hang out in "yesterday" and continue to replay the events and happenings of the past. I especially enjoy basking in the victories that I have seen and experienced. But if I am honest, I also have times when I find myself watching the less than desirable moments and wonder what could have or what should have been. As I get older I realize more and more how harmful it is to replay the blooper reel of my life. Living in the past can pollute the present and poison the future. When Jesus taught us to pray, He reminded us to say "give us this DAY, our DAILY bread." He was teaching us how to live in the moment and let that create some positive momentum. Rumi said, 'let go of your cup of yesterday so you may drink the glory of this moment." Live in the moment and trust God for whatever may lie in wait for you. I can assure you that you are going to enjoy it because He wants the very best for you. This IS the day that the Lord has made. Rejo

He Will Sustain You

How encouraging it is to know that the Lord continues to sustain us even when the body gets tired, the hair turns gray and our years...well they just keep adding up! He made us and he will carry us through any type of difficulty that may arrive. Challenges make us stronger and should turn our hearts and minds towards the One who continues to be faithful. Yes, HE will sustain us. And better yet, he rescues us when we need it the most. So today remember that the troubles are light and momentary. You will come out on the other side. Comfort is not only an option, it’s an absolute certainty. 😁 Today I pray for you to capture the promise in these words and for that sustaining and rescuing power to show up strong for you.

Prayer is a Powerful Force

Prayer is a powerful force. It’s the way that we communicate with God and learn all about the plan he has for our lives. It’s a conversation with our Creator. Take a moment today and just talk to God about all the things happening in your life. Tell Him how grateful you are for all of the ways He blesses you. Prayer brings Him your wishes and your worries. Faith leaves them there. Prayer is a powerful force.

Prepare for Expansion

Today I wanted to encourage you to prepare for expansion. I believe that several of you are experiencing a restlessness; like things may be about to change. This scripture talks about making some preparations to get ready for the things that God is about to bring into your life.  In this weeks  #saturdaysmiles  video, I share a few thoughts about these words that I pray will bring a little smile to your face as you see just how much God loves you and cares about you! I'm praying for YOU!              Prepare for Expansion

Throw Something Back

Maya Angelou was a teacher, activist and artist. She was a warrior for equality and peace. And she had some amazing quotes. I have always been a big fan of one-liners and short little quips that provoke thought and emotion. One of my favorite ones of hers was:  " I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catchers mitt on both hands; you need to be able to                             throw something back. " I love that! When we spend all of your time  catching everything  we become fat and lethargic. We were created to move, to flow in the stream of life and to reciprocate acts of kindness. You know "do unto others as you want them to do unto you". We are conduits of blessing and when we "don't throw back" everything gets plugged up. As you close out this week, don't walk around with two catchers mitts on. You weren't created to catch it all! Someone is depending upon you. You may be their only answer this weekend. Th

Hey Jude

But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God's love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life! Go easy on those who hesitate in the faith. Go after those who take the wrong way. Be tender with sinners, but not soft on sin. The sin itself stinks to high heaven.  Jude 20-23 Jude is a little book with a lot to say about living life. Life has a way of bearing down hard on all of us at times. It can take your breath away and leave you completely exhausted. Sin can find its way in and "stink" up our lives. But we overcome...we can build ourselves up. You build yourself up in the most holy faith by praying in the Spirit. You stay in the sweet spot of God's success and love by keeping those arms outstretched and open wide. God will send the mercy, the strength and the refreshing. Fait

Power of One

One smile can start a friendship.  One word can end a fight.  One hug can save a relationship.  One person can change your life.  So many times in our lives we forget the simple power of ONE.  One person can make a difference.  You are that ONE.  Be the change in the world that you are wanting to see.  #cupofjoe #powerofone

It's a Miracle

Acts 9:32   Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of Lydda.  33  There he met a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years.  34  Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up, and roll up your sleeping mat!” And he was healed instantly.  35  Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord . It just takes one miracle. One act of God, one supernatural burst of power, one deliverance...one miracle. Peter went from city to city looking for people that needed Christ. Some needed to have their minds reprogrammed, some needed financial help, some healing in their bodies. When he met Aeneas it was clear what his condition was. He hadn't been able to move for eight years. Peter spoke with authority and said " Jesus Christ  heals you! Get up, grab your sleeping bag and get moving!" Immediately the man was healed. One m

Higher Level

Inspire!   What does it mean to be inspired? It means to be lifted to a higher level. I have a need to be lifted higher in some way each and every day! There are just so many things and people pulling me down that I crave a little lift all the time! I think we all need to find places that lift us up and ways to be inspired. When our spirits are lifted our energy and productivity increases too. Finding inspiration can be a challenge. Let me offer a few ways that I find a little lift that might be useful for you too! 1-turn on your favorite music and spend a few moments sitting and listening with your eyes closed. 2-write down something that you would like to see in you...maybe a characteristic or emotion. Sometimes you have to see it to be it. 3-find some folks that do what you want to do and have coffee or lunch. Being in the presence of folks that are doing what you desire to do can energize you and ignite passion in you. 4-pray! You should probably do this first be

Dreams Can Come True

Whenever someone would ask me what I do I will sometimes say that "I spend most of my time teaching others how to spend theirs." When I wrote my third book called “Dreams2Destiny”, I told my personal story of going from one career to another; from the contemporary Christian music world to starting a church and being a pastor. It was my destiny. I would teach about destiny. Some call it purpose. Others may call it fate. Some may look to the stars. As a Christian, I look to the One who made the stars. My destiny is to walk on the path that God has set up for me. It’s what all believers strive for. We want to do what we were created to do. The word “destination” is derived from it. We want to be where we are supposed to be.   One of my favorite movies is called “ Serendipity ”. Serendipity means " the faculty or phenomenon of finding valuable or agreeable things not sought for ." That's destiny. Some call serendipity "luck" or fate. They say that som

What Are You Seeing?

What messages are you seeing today? I was reading a scripture in Hebrews 1:1 that talks about God speaking in a variety of ways at various times. Then my mind went off to think about what He might do if He wanted to get through to me. I like praise and worship music, a good early afternoon trip to the theater, a drive around the city and I enjoy stealing a few quiet moments at the local coffee shop. So when God wants to capture my attention, He often does it through a song or movie, a billboard or street sign, or a chance meeting with a friend. I would love Him to speak more frequently and much more quickly at times but I am realizing that His timing is absolutely perfect. I imagine Him orchestrating all of my steps each day, the songs I will hear, the route I will drive to and from the office and the people that will come across my path. All of these things will be happening to make my life more fulfilling and to provide me direction. The problem for many people today is that the

Give With Love

Some people are always greedy for more,  but the godly  love to give !  This little reminder in Proverbs 21:26 can dramatically change the way we live our lives! Generosity begets generosity and a person that gives to others will be given to. That is a lesson that godly folks learn quickly...giving is a way of life not a simple action.  Fact is that  when you give with love you will love to give . For many years I was in a gathering mode. I wanted to get more so that ultimately I would have more. What I realized was that I would never be able to accomplish MY selfish agenda. Things do not satisfy desires...Jesus does. As I grew in Christ I understood that God was always interested in me and me having what was necessary to live a godly life. The older I get the more I see that what I need is indeed what I want! So work hard, keep moving forward and when God blesses you, turn around and bless another.  Pass it on. Godly people  LOVE to GIVE !
