Change Your Thoughts

There is a great deal to be said of having a positive outlook. I have always been a person that likes to look on the bright side. I think it’s because I’ve grown to see just how much my thoughts influence my life. What we think about changes everything. If we realized how powerful our thoughts were, we would never have a negative thought again.   I wanted to encourage you today to stay positive. Focus on the good things and do your best to find the silver lining in every situation. When you change your thoughts, you will change your life!

What Does This Season Feel Like?

So this past weekend, as I sat in my simple confined shelter-in-place location, I had to wrestle with some depression. As I soaked in a bit of self-pity, an image of an Instapot came into my mind. Perhaps it was because I was hungry but now I see the Lord was trying to give me some divine insight.  When you use this pot, you throw all of your raw ingredients into it along with some sauces/liquids and then you button down the hatch. And the pressurized pot begins to go to work. It doesn't look very appetizing when you throw everything in there at the start. It's just a bunch of raw, uncooked food. But after these ingredients go through the cooking pressure, the magic begins. When its done the completely cooked, delicious aroma meal emerges.  That was the lesson for me. I feel like those raw ingredients at this moment, thrown into a small space and locked in tightly. I can only imagine what the families with children feel as they navigate the school work and the activities

Detour

I am not a fan of detours. Whenever I am driving and I see that detour sign, I sigh because I know that I am going to be taken off the road that I was on. I’ve never seen a sign that said “expect short delays”! Fact is, we can’t always see where the road is going. But when we surrender control of the steering to the Lord, we can rest assured that we will end up right where we are supposed to be. Not only that, but there will be some amazing things to see along the way! Trust in the Lord today, especially when you feel like you are caught in one of those uncomfortable and unpredictable detours. He will be your guide. He will help keep you in your lane and on the right highway. And you will be blessed every mile of the journey! There’s something better ahead. Keep moving forward! 😊☕️🙏🏻

Experience is the Hardest Teacher

I consider myself to be an experiential learner. I like to do the things that I am trying to understand and get my learning along the way. I love tutorial videos that show you how to accomplish specific things. They allow me to watch and do, often at the same time! The greatest lessons I’ve learned in this life have also been those that I’ve experienced personally. I think it’s that way for most of us. We tend to remember the challenging times and how we felt or what impact they had on us. This season we are in now will be one that is talked about for generations to come. We will share of how we had to stay in our homes, wear masks when we went to get groceries and had to remain six feet apart.  The story I share will also include how gracious the Lord was to care for us as I prayed and walked with Him during this time. I will tell of the amazing communication tools I was able to use to communicate with others. We are all going through a difficult experience. The good news is t
As you begin another week, let me encourage you to live your life to the fullest for Christ. There has been no better time than right now to be a Christ follower. If you have never made that decision, I pray that you will do it right now. Just tell Jesus you want to live your life for Him and ask Him to be your Savior. It’s the best decision you could ever make.  Praying for you today!🙏🏻😊☕️

When Anxiety was Great

In the midst of this COVID-19 situation, many of us are experiencing elevated levels of anxiety. When you don’t know what you are dealing with and your life gets turned upside down, it’s easy to begin to spiral out of control. Control is key.  One day we all realize that we actually control nothing. The things that are out of our control aren’t uncontrollable. The Lord is in control. There is nothing that has ever happened that surprised Him. And I believe that the desire He has in every challenging situation is that it would draw us closer to Him. He embraces those that are afraid. He consoles those that are wounded and lonely. His joy is our strength. When anxiety was at an all-time high within me, Lord, your consolation brought me joy!

When the Answer is No

There have been many, many times in my life when I prayed for an answer from the Lord and it was no. I would be disappointed, sometimes angry and begin my pity party for one almost immediately. As I grew older, I suppose I became a bit wiser. Now I understand that when I get an answer from the Lord that is no, a better yes will show up somewhere down the road. I just need to keep moving forward and trust Him.  God is the only one who sees the BIG picture. He knows where He is trying to take us and if we would just obey the leading of His spirit, we will find that where we end up when we trust Him is the absolute best place for us. So I encourage you with these words today. Trust that when the answer is no, there’s a better yes down the road. Praying for you!

Be Strong

There is a godly confidence that shows up in us when we understand the power that we have in the name of Jesus. When you have seen that power show up in your darkest moments, you understand that nothing is impossible with God.  I’m certain that many people made a decision to begin living their lives as followers of Christ this past weekend. What thrills my soul is knowing that they are going to see and experience a strength that they never knew they had.  Today I pray that the Lord will continue to show you His glory in your everyday routine. He is always as close as the mention of His name. The confidence we have is that God hears our prayers, sees our struggles and heals our illnesses. He is going to heal our nation too! Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.  You are a warrior!

Praying that you have a blessed and miraculous Resurrection Weekend!  He has Risen! 🙏🏻 Luke 24

Good Friday 2020

I've always loved the quote that I placed on this picture I took while in Destin, Florida for some rest and relaxation. Some may read the and see the words pain, struggles and faithfulness.  Others may see purpose, reason and reward. But the real power of these six words comes when they are contrasted against the other in this quote. Yes, life is often filled with pain and struggle. We need to remain faithful to God when everything feels as though its falling apart. He has a purpose for the pain. Pain reveals our weakness and invites in His strength. God reveals the reason for struggles:to bring about a deep-seated dependence upon Him. And when all is said and done, more is done than said by a God that brings great rewards for those that remain faithful. Maybe you are facing some great challenges in your life right now. Imagine being in a place of rest. Say these words out loud and let the message lift your spirits and build your faith. God has a purpose:) #GoodFriday #God

People are Coming Together

Something incredibly wonderful has happened in the midst of COVID-19. People are coming together. Not physically, but through technology we are having more conversations than we would have ever had without this challenging season.  We are learning that when “I” is replaced by “we” that even illness becomes wellness.  We will get through this. And hopefully we will not allow the conversations and encouragement to dissipate. We are stronger when we come together. We may not have it all together, but together we have it all!  #cupofjoe 😊☕️🙏🏻

Lift Up Someone Else

There is no better time than the present to bring some cheer to another fellow human being. We could all use some encouragement as we face the daily challenges we are going through. Look for a way to lift someone up. And if that’s all you do, that’s enough. #cupofjoetv 😊🙏🏻☕️

Blessed is He Who Comes in the Name of the Lord

Isaiah 42:2  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire,  you will not be burned;  the flames will not set you ablaze . This verse has some great meaning to us as we get ready for Palm Sunday during this unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak. One of the most notable characteristics of the palm tree is that they have the ability to bend and not break. In fact there are many instances where hurricane type winds have nearly touched the top of the tree to the ground yet it refuses to break.  The words of Isaiah speak to the resiliency of the believer today. Rivers of opposition may come. Floods of difficulty may rise. Viruses we never imagined possible may suddenly show up. The heat could get very intense. But never ever forget: the Lord is with you and that means you will never get swept away and you will not be burned.  You were made like the mighty palm. This weekend as

Beautiful Simplicity

I loved this word from JesusCalling so much! I need to learn how to live one day at a time. To ask the Lord when something comes to my attention,”is this part of today’s agenda?” Think about that. This could be a game changer for you too! There is a time for everything.  #beautifulsimplicity
