Don't Let What Hurt you, Haunt You

Too often I let myself go back and replay things from the past. Interestingly enough, the circumstances I replay are usually all negative. My mind doesn’t naturally gravitate to the good stuff. I’ve taught myself to be more intentional when it comes to accentuating the positive and to not allow myself to dwell on bad things from the past. Just as this picture says, I am responsible for how long I let what hurt me, haunt me. When it comes to things that hurt me I face them, feel them and then I move forward away from them. Don’t let yourself get caught in a negative spiral and be derailed from the path that the Lord has for your future. He has plans to bless your alive and not to harm you in any way. You can trust that He only wants what’s best for you. You can let go of the hurts and find healing for every area of your life.  #cupofjoe

Don't Get Upset

It took me way too many years to understand that my reaction and my action has a lot to do with my communication and relationships. Anger has no power unless I engage with it.  Remember the phrase, it takes two to tango? The next time that you get upset with a person or a situation, don't react to it. Take a moment and allow yourself to understand what is happening and what you are feeling. You should also ask, "why am I so upset about this?" "Why does what they did make me so angry?" Not only will you de-escalate those emotions, you'll also learn quite a bit about yourself.  Live in peace, don't fall to pieces!

Sometimes we spend so much time taking care of others that we forget about ourselves. We can get tired, disgruntled and may even find ourselves critical, all because we had no time for rest and recharging. Self-care leads to self-growth and that can be difficult for us. Take some time each day to think about how you are caring for yourself. Do you have a time to unplug? Are there any moments built into the day for you and what you would like to do. There is no greater investment than yourself. And when you take care of yourself, you will be better able to help others too!

Good Counsel

It is always a good idea to get counsel before entering into something new.  This week I had the opportunity to do something new at work. In preparation for it I sought counsel from people with all the wisdom for the task I was to do. As I walked into the responsibilities, I felt a bit overwhelmed because it wasn't going the way that I had been told it would go. Have you ever been there? All types of emotions were running through me as I pressed through each day. The good news is that I carried it out because of all the other help that was around me. I had co-workers that had provided instructions:an actual how-to manual for me a few days before which I forgot to read. Ever been there? I know you are smiling now! The moral of the story for me is still the same. Ask for counsel and then carry it out with all the help you can get. God wants us to succeed and to enjoy life. Not to be overwhelmed when things don't seem to go as you planned. Get good counsel. Do your part.(read th

Bless Someone Else

After you read the above picture, think about what it says. You are the answer to someones prayer. Do you realize that? The way you talk to others can either guide them towards their dreams or to give them up and abandon them. When you have the ability and the resources to help others and you do nothing, well that's just not right. You were made to connect with others and to help whenever possible. We are blessed to be a blessing. Our desire should be to approach each day looking for the people we need to encourage, inspire and bless. And let me give you a little secret. When you start to think of others first and bless them, you will find your life blessed in ways that you never ever imagined. It's the way the kingdom of God works. Today, look for someone to bless. You'll be glad you did!

We Are All Connected

“ All I'm saying is simply this, that all life is interrelated, that somehow we're caught in an inescapable network of mutuality tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. For some strange reason, I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. You can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality. " —Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King is remembered today for so many things and the common thread seems to be the idea of all types of people coming together. Why? Because we are all connected. We live in a time where people look out for themselves and decide that if they can take care of #1, nothing else really matters. That could not be farther from the truth. Perhaps my future is connected to yours. My hopes to yours. My dream may not be realized until you see you have one too. The Creator made us all to function together. Our faith and belief

Don't Be Afraid

Wasn't sure who needed to hear this right now but you don't need to be afraid. The Lord is your light and the One who has brought salvation to you. His power is stronger than anything coming against you and He loves you so much that He won't let anything harm you. The antidote for fear is FAITH. Whatever it is that is bothering you, let the Lord deal with it. When we give our burdens to the Lord, He exchanges them for peace, joy and keeps us safe. You don't have to be afraid.

Romans 12:12

We have been praying for you this week! Yes, you! At the beginning of every new year we all get excited about the fresh start, the new year resolutions and changes we desire to make. Then, our old routines seem to show up unannounced and we get thrown off the path. That one mistake derails us and now the guilt arrives. And before you know it, nothing has really changed and we just want to give up all hope. Give yourself a break! We all fall short in so many ways and when we do, it's not the end, just a misstep. Just say, "Lord, I messed things up a bit today and fell off the path. Would you help me get back to it?" That simple prayer of honesty will not only remove the guilt but usher you right back to the path that leads to fullness of joy. It's God's plan for you to live life in joy. This scripture in Romans 12:12 is a nice reminder that everything is going to be alright.  Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer. A patient, faithful

Goals, Plans & Systems

During the first month of a new year we all tend to make some promises. We set our intentions for what we desire to change. Some folks call them New Years resolutions. They are indeed promises to ourselves to better ourselves. Promises to the Lord to be more “spiritual” and be more like Him. Promises to our friends and our family to eat healthier and take care of ourselves. It’s the best time to turn over a new leaf because we are starting with a clean slate. We attempt to have new thoughts and support them with new actions. What we are saying is that we "resolve" to be different. I want to encourage you to develop your own navigation system- your personal GPS. I have a map on my phone that helps me find locations that I want to get to. It speaks to me and guides me to the front door of those destinations that I want to show up at. Our own GPS is no different. When we activate it, we can be directed to the places that we desire to end up. It will help us stay on track so that

Keyword 2022

My keyword for 2022 seemed to be very personal to me. In fact, I was hesitant to share it because of how personal it was. The word is FULFILLMENT . I felt like the Lord was saying that he was going to bring some things into my life that I have wanted for a long, long time. I have had secret thoughts in my heart and things I have desired that went unspoken. I'm certain you have too. The definition of fulfillment is: *the achievement of something desired, promised or predicted.     *satisfaction or happiness as a result of fully developing one's own abilities or character So I received this as a word from the Lord that he was going to finish every good thing that he started in me. That ignited something in my heart that I simply cannot explain. This will be a year of promise. Not just old things finished. There would be new things. New relationships/partnerships will be born. New territories will be traveled and with that, some incredible moments of joy and happiness will over

Your Personal GPS

At the beginning of a new year we all tend to make some promises. Some folks call them New Years resolutions. They are promises to ourselves to change. Promises to the Lord to be more “spiritual” and to try and be more like Him. Promises to our friends and our family to eat healthier and take care of ourselves. It’s the best time to turn over a new leaf because we are starting with a clean slate. We attempt to have new thoughts and support them with new actions. What we are saying is that we "resolve" to be different. This year I want to encourage you to develop your own personal GPS. I have one of these in my car that helps me find locations that I do not know. It speaks to me and guides me to the destinations that I am going towards. We need to activate our personal GPS. It’s easy to remember and hopefully it will help you stay on track so that you can follow through on your resolutions and fulfill your promises. What is this GPS formula? Goals, plans, systems.
